Your privacy is fundamental to our design. Currency Converter Rate Expat ("the App") is built so that your data stays on your device. We collect the bare minimum needed to provide the features you use.

Privacy at a Glance

Data Storage

All preferences, favourites, and settings are stored 100% locally on your device.

Data Transmitted

Precise GPS location — only when you use the Nearby Exchange finder, and only to return relevant results.

Tracking

None. No advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, no user profiling.

1. Data We Collect

Precise Location (Optional)

When you tap "Find Nearby Exchanges", the App requests your precise GPS coordinates via iOS Location Services. These coordinates are sent in real-time to the Serper API (google.serper.dev) solely to search for currency exchange locations near you. The coordinates are not stored on our servers, not linked to your identity, and are not used for advertising or tracking of any kind.

Location access is optional. The feature is off by default and only activates when you explicitly tap the nearby search button. You can revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Nothing Else

The App does not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, health data, financial information, device identifiers, usage analytics, or crash diagnostics. There are no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.

2. External Services

Exchange Rate API

Live exchange rates are fetched from our own rate service. Only the requested currency codes are sent as query parameters — no personal data is transmitted with these requests.

Serper API (Nearby Exchange Feature Only)

When the Nearby Exchange feature is used, your GPS latitude and longitude are sent to google.serper.dev to retrieve a list of nearby exchange locations. Serper's use of this data is governed by the Serper Privacy Policy. We do not share any additional personal information with Serper.

In-App Purchases

Premium features are unlocked via Apple's StoreKit. All payment transactions are handled exclusively by Apple. We never see, store, or process your payment card details.

3. Data Retention & Deletion

Local data: All preferences, saved currencies, and favourites are stored only on your device. Deleting the app removes this data instantly.
Location data: GPS coordinates are transmitted in real-time for the Nearby search and are not retained by us after the response is returned.

4. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.

5. Changes to This Policy

If we materially change our privacy practices, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the App or App Store release notes.
